FTPD Login Logout Cpanel Info in Messages Log
Hi
I'm using WHM 11.38.2 (build 7).
I've noticed these types of info messages approx every 20 minutes in my messages log from var/log
[QUOTE]Oct 7 18:00:39 server1 pure-ftpd: (?@127.0.0.1) [INFO] New connection from 127.0.0.1
Oct 7 18:00:40 server1 pure-ftpd: (?@127.0.0.1) [INFO] __cpanel__service__auth__ftpd__ is now logged in
Oct 7 18:00:40 server1 pure-ftpd: (__cpanel__service__auth__ftpd__@127.0.0.1) [INFO] Logout.
I've seen on some places that this refers to chkservd service monitoring. I understand that chkservd checks the processes. By why in does it only show for ftpd in my messages? Why this process only? Apologies if this is obvious to most but I'm still learning. Thanks

Yes we know that, the question is why does this check gets logged in messages, if there are other things its checking why doesn't that get logged in the messages too?0 -
chkservd log file is in /var/log/chkservd.log You see those connection entries in /var/log/messages because pure-ftpd uses /var/log/messages for logging. If you check for ex. /var/log/exim_mainlog and /var/log/maillog you see similar connections from chkservd. 0 -

Thank you for the clarity.0
