email client complaining about IMAP alert (max atom size too small)
Has anyone ever had a complaint, or seen this:
I have a client that is getting flooded with messages that say:
"Your IMAP server wants to alert you tot he following: Fatal error: max atom size too small: File exists"
I can not for the life of me figure out what is causing this....?

Hello :) Which specific email client is in-use when this message occurs? Is it happening on alternate email clients, or is it isolated to a single email client on a specific email account? Thank you. 0 -
It looks like he is using outlook 2013. I'll see if he can try another client as well. I was thinking it was a message directly from the imap server based on the wording of the error, but do you think it could be client specific? 0 -
The message likely stems from Courier. How many emails are in this particular inbox? Thank you. 0 -
it's a very large mailbox. The inbox has 60k+ e-mails. Some sub-folders have more. 0 -
You may want to consider switching to Dovecot if you have not done so already. It may handle this many emails a little better than Courier. Also, what type of file system (e.g. ext3) is in use? Thank you. 0 -
I didn't realize we were still running courier on that server. I think switching to Dovecot has worked so far. 0
