Compiling Apache
Hi
If I want to compile Apache myself or install it from packages or something other than using easyapache, how can I let cPanel know where the httpd.conf is and where to put it's vhosts, etc?
Thanks

On a server running cpanel this is not a good idea for many reasons, you can however customise Apache quite a bit. Take a look at these docs: [url=http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/EasyApache/Apache/ApacheConfigurationFile]EasyApache: The Apache Configuration File & Building Apache 0 -
Hello :) Is there a specific reason you prefer to use a standalone version of Apache? It's typically a better idea to implement any custom modifications with EasyApache rather than attempting to circumvent it. Thank you. 0 -
I think the main reason is being able to recompile it on security updates very quickly. 0 -
Critical security updates for Apache are typically pushed out with a new version of EasyApache relatively quickly. While you are welcome to implement a manual installation of Apache, it's important to note that it's not supported and you may encounter incompatibility issues. Thank you. 0 -
So I'd need to recompile it using easyapache when these security updates come out? 0 -
Yes, you can monitor our EasyApache change log and run EasyApache when you notice a new version of Apache has been included. Thank you. 0
