Happens to me every time as well. I'll get it the next night, but not the first time it updates to a new version.

I could not find an existing internal case open to address this issue. Please open a support ticket using the link in my signature and post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thank you.

Common issue, I believe - I've seen it on this forum before. I've just gotten used to the fact that the absence of an email from the upcp cron job means that an upgrade took place :)

That's as may be. I'm happier to know that I've now reported it here, and to have it confirmed that there isn't yet an internal case number for this. Hopefully my ticket will trigger a case number, and it can be addressed in due course.

I disagree. Also, the email should be sent regardless of an update. Let's wait and see what cPanel Technical Support find out on this one. The /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp --cron emails are working for me across all servers.

Fair enough. I've never seen it work correctly on any of my servers. Yes, of course it should work. Like the OP I just didn't get around to reporting it.

The cause was upcp restarting exim at the end of the script - but only in those cases when the cPanel version is incremented. The internal case number for this is 83489.

Thank you both for the updates including ticket and case ids.

I also experience this when cpanel upgrades to a newer version. I just assumed that it was a bug within exim, or the fact that exim is restarted during the upgrade process. Like the above user, I now just assume that when a upcp email is not generated, cpanel has upgraded to a new version.

I'm fairly new to WHM and just experienced this as well. I like to look over my upcp, access and csf/lfd logs first thing when I get up every morning with my coffee. Didn't get the upcp email this morning and started to panic a little :( Took me a while to find this thread and glad I did - it will save me a little more hair. Checked /var/cpanel/updatelogs and sure enough there was an update this morning (11.40.1.8 -> 11.40.1.9). Good to know I can expect an update when I don't get the report :D

I agree that the mail should be sent regardless, but it IS a common problem. I see this regularly whenever a major update happens, as with this recent change on the Stable release track. When certain packages are upgraded, especially related to mail. If I ever wind up with Courier running a deleted instance requiring a manual restart of the service, you can also bet that upcp notification wasn't sent.
