clamd errors since update to cpanel 11.40

    Do this: chown clamav:clamav /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/share/clamav Then you can re-run freshclam if you like to verify that it is working. It's trying to write temp files into that directory, and that directory is currently owned by root. cPanel is aware of this and it will likely be remedied in a future update. There are at least two other threads on here discussing this, with cPanel staff suggesting the above command to resolve the problem. So there should be no worries doing this. Mike
