Moving Servers to new IPS - Guide (Please Check)
Hi Folks,
We"re moving 3 servers today to a new data center and I wanted to make sure I've got all the steps correct before proceeding.
This is what I"ve done so far"
1) Add the new IPs via "Add a new IP address"
2) Launch "IP Migration Wizard" and added the new IPs (reached step 6)
3) Ignore migrating the main server IP for now (as read here [url=http://tinyurl.com/pwgw6ne]How to migrate IP addresses for a HyperVM VPS by using cPanel)
I will modify the DNS before I leave for the datacentre as we still need the sites running this afternoon but doesn"t matter that much for the weekend.
Before I disconnect the servers"
4) Edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 " New main server IP address (we don"t have a broadcast or network address)
5) Edit /etc/sysconfig/network " Add new gateway
6) In this article [url=http://tinyurl.com/d8ngxhx]codero.com knowledge base :: How to change the primary IP addres of a WHM/cPanel server it says: Edit /etc/ips and Remove the new primary IP from this file if it is present and Add the old primary IP to this file with the format :: - confused by this?
7) Edit /var/cpanel/mainip " add new primary ip
8) Edit /etc/hosts
Modify the DNS at DNSMadeEasy and hook up the servers to the new network.
Complete migration and remove old IPs.
The only part I"m confused about is step 6 above.
Do I have to change any other files, httpd etc?
Thanks!

Hello :) The IP Migration Wizard will ensure the Apache configuration file and DNS Zones are updated with the new IP addresses. As far as your other steps, you are welcome to try them but keep in mind it's a good idea to ensure you have physical access to the server in the event you make a mistake in the network configuration. I don't see a problem with the sixth step, but I don't believe it's necessary if you have already used the IP Migration Wizard. Thank you. 0
