Transferring domain (with many subdomains) from shared cPanel hosting to WHM virtual server
I currently have a shared hosting account with around 10 domains on it. The way it's set up is one cPanel account and the other domains are listed there as called "subdomains" (these are completely different domains, they're just called subdomains in cPanel)
Anyway, I'm going to upgrade to a virtual private server which uses WHM.
I know how to create individual accounts on WHM which is probably the cleanest way to set up multiple domains. But since I have everything tied together on the shared server, should I just port it over to the new server in the same configuration?
In other words, have just one account (domain) in WHM and then when you go to that account's cPanel it has all the subdomains (just like the shared server)?
Reason I ask is that it would be really easy to transfer everything vs breaking each domain apart (finding the corresponding db's, files, etc.).
Do I need to break everything apart, or can I just set up the virtual server like the shared server?
These are all just simple Wordpress sites.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

A Full Website Backup - cPanel Documentation will contain everything. Transferring it all, intact, is probably the easiest way to go. You can always manage/move things to separate accounts as needed, afterward. 0 -
Hello :) Yes, leaving the existing configuration in place and transferring the account via WHM is the easiest route to take. The following thread could be helpful if you decide to manually separate the addon domain names into their own accounts: Moving addon domain name to it's own account Also, feel free to add your input to the existing feature request: [url=http://features.cpanel.net/responses/as-a-reseller-i-want-a-tool-that-allows-me-to-easily-convert-local-addon-domains-into-their-own-cpanel-accounts-so-that-i-can-easily-split-accounts-with-ex]Tool that allows me to easily convert local addon domains into their own cPanel accounts | cPanel Feature Requests Thank you. 0 -
Thanks for the great tips, guys! So, keeping the current config will work. Is there any reason to ever break it apart piece by piece? I mean, performance-wise, does it matter? Would the domains run faster broken apart? I'm assuming no, but just curious. Thanks again! 0 -
Nope, IMHO. :) Easier to manage there as well. If you break them up into their own accounts, you've got more to work thru to manage them all. 0
