Is it possible to migrate from RHEL to CentOS on server with existing install of cPanel?

Changing the entire operating system on an existing server is not something that cPanel supports, and generally it is a bad idea. Even moving from CentOS 5 to CentOS 6 really needs a fresh install instead of trying to upgrade "in place", so it is difficult to imagine how changing from Red Hat to CentOS on a running server would work well. Though it is true that CentOS is largely RHEL with different branding, the change would still involve changing such a huge number of RPM packages, that it is not something we can support. It would be best to commission a new CentOS server with cPanel, transfer your accounts using the tools we provide, and decommission the Red Hat cPanel server.

Many thanks for the response. I fully agree with your response, and find it a bit of a shame that our current company claims this type of upgrade is quite feasible. We'll investigate acquiring a new server for this task.
