delete unnecessary backup files via SSH

Hello All, I will appreciate if someone can help with regards to SSH/cPanel - My HDD is full and my VPS service provider has asked me to delete tmp/unnecessary files via SSH. sorry I have no clue how to do this, I am new to all this. 1. How to access SSH? Can I access files via WHM Panel? 2. Can I delete files using WHM panel 3. Can I use putty to do this? what commands? Many Thanks

  You might check your cPanel account first, that's the easiest place to start: cPanel > File section, Disk Space Usage If you see directories that are larger than normal, click the name of the directory listed there to open the cPanel File Manager. Account backups that you generated via the cPanel Backup tools will be found in the home directory. You can delete them via the cPanel File Manager.
