Email routing

Hi all, My domain is currently pointing to microsoft exchange service (mail.protection.outlook.com). When I checked, found two options remote or local in the edit mx entry. In my best knowledge, email routing should be set as 'Remote mail exchanger' in my case but mails are working even I changed it to Local mail exchanger. Will the server (server where whm is installed) receive all the mail locally and forward to the servers (microsoft) if the email routing is set as local ? Thanks,

  Hello :) Email would still function if you selected "Local Mail Exchanger". However, emails sent to this domain name from another domain name hosted on the same server would attempt to deliver the mail locally instead of to the correct address. Please ensure you use "Remote Mail Exchanger" if your email is handled on a remote mail server for this domain name. Thank you.
