viewing hidden files with legacy file manager issue
Hi, I use legacy file manger almost exclusively because i love the layout. Today i noticed that i could not see my htaccess file. So i reset my interface settings and did both legacy and normal file manager to show hidden files. And logged off and cleared my cache.
It is same issue, i can see htaccess in normal file mangager and also via ftp. But legacy file manager is not showing the file. So im thinking there may be an issue with legacy file manager and the setting for show hidden files.
Anyone else have this same issue. Is there a fix?
Thanks

Hello :) I have not been able to reproduce this issue on a test machine using legacy file manager. Could you let us know which version of cPanel is installed on this system? cat /usr/local/cpanel/version
Also, do you have root access to this server? Thank you.0 -
sure thanks.... i have cpanel with whm so cpanel is version 11.42.0 (build 1) cpanel pro 1.0 (RC1) and WHM 11.42.0 (build 1) I also downloaded the htaccess file, and reuploaded it and again, i can see fine in ftp and in file manager but no htaccess in legacy file manager. then i created a new file as a test called .testthis and same as htaccess nothing there in legacy but can see in normal file manager. 0 -
Could you verify if you have root access to the server? Your access level is listed as "Reseller Owner" so I just wanted to verify if you were able to run commands as "root" via SSH. Thank you. 0 -

I recommend contacting your web hosting provider about this issue. The behavior you described is not reproducible, so they should be able to investigate and determine why the file is not visible in File Manager. Thank you.0 -
ok thanks, if i find out the reason i will reply back and let everyone know.. :) 0 -
Hello, When you first select Legacy File Manager from cPanel, it should pop up a box that says: Directory Selection - Please select a directory to open... At the bottom of that box is a checkbox (unchecked by default) that says: Show Hidden Files (dotfiles). Did you (or do you) check that box and then continue? 0 -
yes i did that, i have known to do that for years now. I did that on both manager and legacy just to be sure. 0
