MySQL user pass not recognized after upgrade php to 5.4

Hello! I upgrade php to 5.4 for all servers and many many sites can't connect to mysql becouse mysql's user didn't recognize the password. If I"m going in WHM/Change MySQL User password and I change the pass for user "cpaneluser_user" with the same password will work, can connect to MySQL. Without this password reset didn"t work and I receive "Error establishing a database connection". Any help please? Thank you!

  Hello :) What version of MySQL is installed on your system? Do you have an entry for "old_passwords" in your /etc/my.cnf file? Were these MySQL passwords originally created on a MySQL environment prior to 4.1? Thank you.
