Log files: What's safe to delete?

I have a client that is over quota. It looks like the log files are eating up a lot of disk space. Is it safe to delete them? Is it safe to delete the entire /tmp folder? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Selena

  Hello :) It's not safe to delete the /tmp directory. Could you elaborate on the specific log files that are taking up space? Also, are you referring to the individual account or the server in general? Thank you.

  An individual cPanel account. Their error_log file, for example, was at 2 GB. thank you.

  You can typically delete log files without an issue. It perhaps might be best to empty them out instead of deleting them - some services get picky about that.

  Yes, it's acceptable to delete the error_log within their account if you no longer require that data. You should leave the account's "tmp" directory in-place because it's where the account's statistics are stored. Thank you.
