I think this post can be ignored, see my reply to this post below it. By going to https:// example.com:2096 to read email I end at unsecured connection in Horde webmail or without https. Is that how it works with webmail? My server for my own personal use has self signed certificate for the webmail service. I'm using up to date cPanel Release version.

  The URL is HTTPS, while the browser says unsecured connection, probably because of the self signed certificate, so this is working.

  Yes, it should prompt you to agree to use the self-signed certificate. This is normal. Thank you.
