Rename Accounts in Account Functions (from development to production server)

Hi, On my dedicated server I have two accounts, one is a production server running the companies website and the other account is the development server for the new website, now when the time comes I have to switch them around but I just want to know how can this be done safely. Current situation: website.co.za (production server) dev.website.co.za (development server) The forthcoming situation: old.website.co.za (was production server, now just parked) website.co.za (from the development server to the production server) Can I go under "Account Functions > Modify an Account" and on the development server account under: Basic Information "primary domain" rename the "dev.website.co.za" name to "website.co.za" and then on the production server account also under: Basic Information "primary domain" rename the "website.co.za" to "old.website.co.za"? or is there a better way to do this? :confused: Thanx in advance

  Hello :) The method you described is suitable, assuming your development server is going to become the primary server you use for hosting the website. Note that you would have to update the name servers to use the IP addresses of the new server. Thank you.

  Hi Michael, I just want to know can you name two accounts with exactly the same name? i.e. you have two accounts, which is two websites, with the same name, or is this going to give an error?

  You will not be able to use the same domain name on multiple accounts within the same server. It would result in conflicts with the DNS zones and Apache configuration. Thank you.
