cPanel - License Expiry - Does Dovecot Mail stop ??
Hi,
I've recently taken out a new dedicated server which is currently running on a trial license.
I'm away from home at the moment and not in a position to purchase a new licence until a week or so after the trial license expires.
From reading other posts it would seem that in additional to cPanel and WHM stopping working, POP3 mail will stop when the license expires.
Is this correct ?? - Also does anything else stop working ???
Thanks in advance for any comments.
Daniel

The only thing that will stop due to license expiry is cPanel update. 0 -

Thanks for your reply. I was under the impression WHM, cPanel access were both uunavailable as well as webmail and possibly POP/IMAP as well. Are you sure it is only the cPanel updates that stop and everything else continues as normal ?? Thanks Daniel0 -
I'm talking about the services itself. Of course you won't be able to login to any interface related to cPanel like webmail. But if your email are on Gmail, Hotmail or you linked to mobile you can still use it but the interface itself will be unavailable. The only interface that will be available is phpMyAdmin through this direct link: http://11.22.33.44:2086/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/index.php #change to your ip0 -
Thanks for you reply - I thought there would be more to it than just the updates. Some previous posts mentioned that POP3/IMAP was also unavailable due to it using proprietary software developed by cPanel - cppop ? - I assume this doesn't apply if I am using Dovecot ? Also is awstats accessible directly (not via WHM/cPanel) ? Thanks Daniel 0 -
Hello :) The services utilized for your websites and email (e.g. Apache, MySQL, Exim) will continue operating normally. However, the cPanel/WHM/Webmail interfaces are disabled. Thus, a user will not be able to access their email through the webmail interface offered with cPanel, but messages are still delivered and can be accessed through a third-party email client. Thank you. 0 -

Thanks for the confirmation. So all security updates to cPanel etc will continue to automatically update - It is purely the web interfaces for WHM/cPanel/Webmail that will stop functioning ? Thanks0 -

No, cPanel updates will not occur. The upcp process can not proceed without a valid license. Thank you.0
