not receiving emails

hey guys i got a neighbour to design me a website and he purchased me this email address and a domain but in the end i made my own website with weebly and i think he shut his server down so i no longer receive emails, as this is the business email its causing havok so is there anything i can do to get it up and running again, i know bugger all about websites and hosting so not too technical if you can help it, cheers ash

  You'd need to know where the domain was registered and be able to login there and modify the settings for the domain. If you do not own the domain, and he does, this might be an issue.
