Backup Configurations and drawback from the previous nice Legacy Backup
Hello Cpanel Staff,
We tried to use the new Backup Configurations since we don't want to use the legacy backup configurations till the last minutes that you will make it available for us.
We always make our backups on remote server ( connected to our server via LAN)
When Legacy Backup was doing its works, it was making a full backup of each account (one by one) and after making any full backup of any member it first uploads that on the backup destination (our remote backup server) and then goes to the next full back of the another user.
But as it seems on this new backup configurations system, Cpanel will first make a backup of all of available users and then tries to upload them on the backup server.
So it needs to store a big amount of backup files first on the source server and then tries to upload them on backup server.
But we don't have so much of free space on our servers to let BACKUP CONFIGURATIONS do backups like this.
We want to have this new backup system, make the full backups one by one for each user and don't let it to start backup the second user before uploading the full back up of 1st user.
So we don't need so much of free space on our servers.
What should we exactly do?

Dear Michael! Your quick answers and your help on this forum means so much. Thank you for your care. I have voted for that and sadly i see there is not so much of VOTES there. Maybe other shared hosting providers are still thinking that LEGACY BACKUP has a long live and are not thinking about the nightmare that they will face with in future. I believe this option should not be removed since it is not a good idea to put a complete backup of whole accounts on HDD first and then try to transfer it to remote destination. On shared servers it is not possible to keep a big amount of HDD unused just for letting BACKUP CONFIGURATIONS do its job properly. I vote for that and hereby i ask you to please forward these things to the developers of Cpanel, since it is impossible for shared hosting providers to use the new BACKUP system or they need to investigate and keep 50% of their HDD all of the time free and unused just for BACKUP CONFIGURATION system of Cpanel. Dear Michael! Does Cpanel developers ever thought about sharing host providers which are a vast number of Cpanel users? Have they ever thought that a shared host can't leave 50% of HDD unused all the time? I believe other shared hosting providers are not yet aware of the nightmare that they are going to face with and as soon as you remove LEGACY BACKUP they will all come down here to say a big WHY and What to do? Please and please ask developers to be logical and think before making any new possibility and before declaring the previous modules. How can we contact developers directly? Dear Michael! We always admire your kind helps on this forum. I want your assistant on this issue. Imagine that Cpanel developers didn't decide to fix this blackhole in their new BACKUP CONFIGURATION system. So if i try to do the same as what cpbackup is doing automatically what are the essentials that i need to take care? We need to be prepared for such issues. I mean if i decide to do everything manually and write a Cronjob and set of scripts, which files of previous LEGACY BACK will assist me and how to use them? Do you have any clue on this? 0 -

Replicating the entire legacy backup system is not feasible in my opinion. You could develop a script that utilizes /scripts/pkgacct to backup accounts, and then move them over to a remote server. Thank you.0 -
