public_html directory on new accounts owned by user group instead of nobody

    Hello :) Please check to see if you are using Mod_Ruid2: /usr/local/cpanel/bin/rebuild_phpconf --current
    The public_html directory should in-fact have group ownership set to the account username when using Mod_Ruid2. Thank you.

    Looks like we don't have it configured that way: Available handlers: suphp dso cgi none DEFAULT PHP: 5 PHP4 SAPI: none PHP5 SAPI: suphp SUEXEC: enabled RUID2: not installed

    To update, this happened because FileProtect was disabled. The resolution for anyone else experiencing this issue is to enable the FileProtect module via EasyApache. EasyApache Documentation - FileProtect Thank you.
