SMTP Error (-1): Connection to server failed.

Hi, I am receiving the above error when trying to send email from webmail. Also I am not receiving emails either. This has just happened now, it was working fine yesterday and I have not changed any settings in WHM/cPanel. Any ideas as to what is causing this? Thanks.

  Hello :) Is this issue isolated to a single email account or domain name, or is it happening for all accounts on the server? Is there any output to /var/log/exim_mainlog when the error occurs or when incoming email fails? Thank you.

  I tried to restart exim on the server (when the problem occured again) and the service could not be stopped, only started. So far only one user has reported the problem (but not much mail on that server).
