Email Backup issue

Hi, I want to take backup from old server to new server, But backups is disabled on old server. So I've copied the old /home/$user/mail to new server's /home/$user/mail by logging in to SSH (root). and changed the owner of mail folder to 540.mil2 but, it didn't worked . Please provide me a solution for this. And also I don't have root access to the old server, I've got reseller access to the old server only. Waiting for your kind reply . Thanks. Regards, Shahriar

  chown -R user.user /home/user/mail and run /scripts/mailperm for good measure
