New to cPanel SSL Help
Hello all,
I am new to cPanel and I have watched numerous videos on the different aspects of cPanel. I have created my hostname of athena.example.com and purchased a wildcard certificate for *.example.com
I have installed the certificate on the server, configured the server to use that certificate and everything works fine there. The problem I am experiencing now is that when I visit https://www.example.com, I am redirected to https://example.com/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi.
I assume I will need a different SSL just for this domain to run a regular website? I was under the assumption that a wildcard would cover this main website that will be hosting WHMCS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to get this done properly so I won't have to do it again.

I followed these steps. 1) Go to SSL/TLS -> Install an SSL Certificate on a Domain 2) Install certificate to *.example.com 3) go to Home -> Service Configuration 4) Manage Service SSL Certificates 5) Choose all 4 options and install certificate by pasting the CRT then "Autofill by certificate" 6) restarted server and I am able to connect to https://athena.example.com:2087 and the certificate shows properly. I can also go to Example Domain and it is showing wordpress however when I use the HTTPS protocol, it reverts back. I want the website to use the https protocol. 0 -
Could you elaborate what you mean by "it reverts back"? Thank you. 0 -
whenever I use /https://www.example.com it goes to /https://example.com/cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi instead of going to the wordpress installation 0 -
Please try installing the SSL certificate directly to the domain name via "WHM Home " SSL/TLS " Install an SSL Certificate", using the same certificate, but with "domain.com" or "www.domain.com" as the domain name. Thank you. 0 -
Also check in .htaccess or in cPanel if you have set redirects for your domain which redirects from www to example.com 0
