Hello :) Please review the backup logs in: /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup/ Open the most recent log file, and look for any error messages towards the end when the local backup archives are to be pruned. Thank you.

Hello, I checked those logs and I didn't see any error messages in any of them. The only error messages I saw were regarding the FTP of system files. Are there any other places we could look for possible errors or other suggestions. Thanks for your help!

Hello, Please also check the /usr/local/cpanel/logs/cpbackup_transporter.log file for errors. The only reason that files would not be removed is if they failed to transfer. You should also check the remote FTP destination to see if the files are there.

Hello, The files have no issue moving to our FTP destination, and in fact we get a confirmation email that the backup completed. The only issue we've noticed so far is that they are not removed from the VPS. I checked the log and found the following errors from 5/30/2014, which is actually the date when we first noticed the issue happening. I am not sure if the two are related or not, or if these are even the correct errors to be looking for. They mention pruning which is what cPanelMichael said to look for in the cpbackup logs. Error Messages: [2014-05-30 05:31:37 -0700] warn [cpbackup_transporter] Error pruning /2014-05-26 from [FTP]: Unknown Error at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/LoggerAdapter.pm line 26 Cpanel::LoggerAdapter::warn(Cpanel::LoggerAdapter=HASH(0x123a8b80), 'Error pruning /2014-05-26 from [FTP]: Unknown Error') called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Backup/Queue.pm line 379 Cpanel::Backup::Queue::transport_backup::attempt_to_prune_destination(Cpanel::Backup::Queue::transport_backup=HASH(0x1237ede8), Cpanel::Transport::Files::FTP=HASH(0x12d7fc60), 1, Cpanel::LoggerAdapter=HASH(0x123a8b80)) called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Backup/Queue.pm line 150
Please let me know if I should be looking for any other type of error messages. We haven't made any changes to the configuration, it just stopped removing them. Thanks for the help!

Could you open a support ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look? You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thank you.

To update, our support team suggested checking to see if the issue persists in cPanel version 11.44 due to some changes to the backup system in that version. It's currently scheduled for publication to the release tier next week, but that's only tentative and can change based on internal cases. Thank you.
