Not able to move emails to trash folder or open the trash folder
First I am very thankful to this amazing forum which gives answer to my many questions without registration, whenever I search in google about cpanel or WHM in result i found my answer in this forum so once I decided to register and today the time come when I need to open the thread. Here is the problem I am facing below, I hope experienced people would like to share their knowledge.
I had setup WHM and Cpanel then I had added my domain and everything works fine but after some time I have problem with my one email which is receiving highest mails daily. I am not able to delete message to trash for that particular email address also I am not able to access trash folder. These both thing I had tried from webmail if I do from outlook and delete mails (that moves to trash) the mails come again to inbox.
Here is the Exact error I got when I had tried to delete mail from SquirrelMail
[COLOR="#FF0000">ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: STORE 7431 +FLAGS (\Deleted)
and I got the below error when I tried to open trash folder from SquirrelMail

Query: SELECT {11} INBOX.Trash
However I am able to permanently delete emails directly from inbox so I think problem with the trash folder only. Last time when I had faced this problem I had took backup of mails from FTP, deleted that account and recreated with same address and restored that mails and it solved the problem but after 15 days again I am having same problem so I need to find some optimum solution. Please help me guys, you are my last hope because Godaddy VPS support sucks. Either they don't want to answer or they really don't know.

Hello :) Please ensure the account or the individual email account is not at it's disk space limit. Also, do you get any different error messages when using Horde or Roundcube? Thank you. 0 -
Hello Michael, Thanks for your reply, I had already set the limit of that account to infinite so space should not be a problem also my VPS have and cpanel account have lot of space available. Now when I use Roundcube it shows me Server error only and Horde don't have anything in trash maybe because in horde the message never moved to trash. All the images are attached here please check and tell me if there is any solution. Thank you :) 0 -
There could be permission/ownership issues on some of the mail directories. Could you open a support ticket so we can take a closer look? You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thank you. 0 -
Thanks Michael for giving me hint, I had checked .Trash folder again and compared all files inside it with working mailbox and found I have some Dovecot lock files inside it. I had deleted that files and it started working again :) also one more thing I had found that there are too many emails in my trash folder (may be a long queue) I had never permanently deleted them so From past few day I was deleting that mails from .Trash/cur directory and new files(mails) coming again and again so I want to ask if we overload trash then it can be locked?? 0 -
I am happy to see you were able to resolve the issue. I suggest ensuring automatic expunging of messages in your Trash folder occurs. The "Auto Expunge Trash" option is available in "WHM Home " Service Configuration " Mailserver Configuration". Thank you. 0 -
Thanks Michael again for this idea, It was unchecked previously and I had checked it and set 7 days time period so It will not create any problem now. Now you can mark this thread as Resolved or Close :) Thanks you. 0
