missing emails

I have an account that exclusively uses imap for email. I can verify this through the mail logs. There are no pop 3 connections for this email account. So nothing is setup as pop3 that is removing the mail. They use imap on a desktop and iphone. The last couple of weeks some emails have been disappearing from their inbox. Any advice on how I can troubleshoot this issue? Is there a way to see how an imap email was deleted for a user account?

  Hello :) IMAP logs to /var/log/messages, but it's not going to log the deletion of individual emails. Are you sure the messages were not deleted by the email client or iPhone mail application? Thank you.
