Security Advisor and KernelCare
Hello,
KernelCare was installed and the Kernel was updated but the security advisor in cPanell still showing this ;
A newer kernel is installed, however the system has not been rebooted. running kernel: 2.6.32-531.1.2.lve1.2.54.el6, most recent installed kernel: 2.6.32-531.17.1.lve1.2.58.el6
Reboot the system in the "Graceful Server Reboot" area. Check the boot configuration in grub.conf if the new kernel is not loaded after a reboot.
---------
If we check the kernel via command line we see the latest one and a message saying "kernel is safe". We reach cloudlinux support and they told us that there is an issue with securiry advisor.
There any temporary solution or any case for that?
Regards,
Jonathan

Hello :) Is this a Virtuozzo VPS? Thank you. 0 -
Hello, No. This is a dedicated server with cloud linux 6.5 and cpanel/whm 11.44(build19) 0 -
You can safely ignore that warning if your kernel is updated. However, since this is not a Virtuozzo VPS, I don't believe an active case is open for this issue. Feel free to open a support ticket so we can take a closer look. You can post the ticket number here so we can update this thread with the outcome. Thank you. 0 -
Hello, This is the ticket Id #5182163 Thanks! 0 -
To update, the method of determining the Kernel with KernelCare is not supported with the Security Advisor. If using KernelCare, you can verify your kernel version with a command such as: kcare-uname

Hi. Grsecurity and elrepo.org " is supported by the Security Advisor ? 0 -
It's important to keep in mind the kernel version is only one aspect of the Security Advisor. It's simply comparing the output of kernel with "uname" with the most recent version available. Thus, using custom kernel implementations such as KernelCare can conflict with this. You can easily check to see if a new version of your kernel is available at anytime without the Security Advisor. Thank you. 0
