CentOS 7 Support

Hello :) CentOS 7 was just released today. I realize that it will take some time to add support for this version, but I was wondering if someone from cPanel is able to estimate (vaguely) how long it might take. Consider it an unofficial, non-binding estimation if you wish. Would it be reasonable/realistic to delay some new server deployments for about 2-3 months? I know CentOS 6 is still fully supported until 2016, but the servers we plan to deploy soon should last for minimum 3 years or more, so CentOS 7 would be ideal. Thank you!

  I believe systemD messes a few things around. It might take a while.

  CentOS 6 isn't EOL until 2020, where did you see 2016? CentOS 5 isn't even EOL until 2017.

  This is going to be the problem. I am sure that there is already a team at cPanel installing test machines and then running the install scripts to get logs and see what they need to fix.

  Yeap this is interesting. Soon I will deploy new servers and prefer the new kernel instead of obsolete 2.6.32 ;)

  We won't support RHEL 7, nor CentOS 7, for a while.   It is a must to get the best out of your server. CentOS 5 and 6 are obsolete.

  Not true. CentOS5, maybe, but 6 is still being actively worked on. You can't expect someone to just jump in and magically update to the latest and greatest version of something, that's not how this is done. This takes a good bit of time to do RIGHT. Take a look at how long they took to get php 5.5 stable integrated, and that's just PHP.

  Yes, I agree CentOS6 is not obsolete at all. I see most prefer to work on 6 untill the pros and cons of the latest versions are sorted out. :)
