11.44.1 not identifying the correct nameservers
Hi,
We have a number of cPanel servers but have just deployed a new server yesterday which is on 11.44.1 instead of 11.42.1 which the others are running. This isn't a major problem in itself but we are having strange problems when adding a new account. We are unable to get cPanel to identify the correct name servers to use for a clients account. Even when the option "Use the name servers specified at the registrar" is ticked it defaults to the ones that are applied to the reseller/root account.
We also have noticed that it is taking a considerable amount longer to set up the account on this new server.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to mention that we don't run a local instance of Named on this server and that doing a lookup against any name server is working as expected. We can query for the name servers using "host -t NS domain.com" etc and have a result returned instantly.

This can actually be closed off.. we found the fault to be a problem with the firewall blocking access to the root servers. Can i ask the dev's though, what is the process to do the lookups. We have been forced recently cause of a few scripts that have been uploaded to our sites to block outbound port 53 and limit it only to our own name servers. We have had several wordpress compromises that are deploying denial of service attacks using DNS queries against random name servers. The pure volume of queries creates issues for the hosting server in both load and bandwidth usage. 0 -
Hello :) I am happy to see you were able to resolve the issue. As far as I understand, the information comes from scripts that use "dig" or "host" commands to obtain that data. Thank you. 0
