"New" backup fails with "legacy" backup error message
I never used the legacy backup but want to enable the new backup for system files only. My WHM version is 11.44.0 (build 29).
When I enable the new backup for system files, daily backup, with an additional backup to a remote Cloud, the backup fails with the following message:
[cpbackup] Backup Not Enabled (This can be adjusted in WHM => Backup => Legacy Backup Configuration)
It is my understanding that legacy backup is not required to enable the new backup. What am I missing?

Hello :) Could you elaborate on where you see this message? Is it sent as an email notification? Check to ensure legacy backups are disabled via: "WHM Home " Backup " Legacy Backup Configuration" Also, for the new backup system, note that you must manually enable system backups for remote servers: System Backups - Remote Destinations Thank you.0 -
Legacy backups are disabled. This happens on all my WHM/CPanel servers (all same version): When I go to Home "Backup "Backup Configuration - Select "Enable Backup" - Backup type "Compressed" - Check "Daily Backup" and check each day - Check Backup System Files (and uncheck Backup Accounts) - Check "Retain backups in the default directory" - Add custom destination and validate destination. (In this case, Cloud server via SFTP) Click on "Save Configuration" and this message appears below: Success: Backup configuration successfully saved. At the top of the page, this message appears: The legacy backup system is currently disabled. Click here to manage the legacy backup system. It does backup locally but the remote backup is empty. When I run backup manually to check the remote backup, it reports this: [~]# /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/cpbackup info [cpbackup] Started at Thu Jul 24 10:45:43 2014 [cpbackup] Backup Not Enabled (This can be adjusted in WHM => Backup => Legacy Backup Configuration) Same message with /scripts/cpbackup 0 -
The following information notice is normal: [QUOTE]The legacy backup system is currently disabled. Click here to manage the legacy backup system.
It's simply letting you know that legacy backups are disabled. You can safely ignore this message if you do not plan on using legacy backups. As far as the second issue you reported, you are using the wrong path. The path to the new backup script is:/usr/local/cpanel/bin/backup
Also, for the new backup system, note that you must manually enable system backups for remote servers: System Backups - Remote Destinations Thank you.0 -
This warning email has been fixed in 11.44.1.7 Fixed case 72765: Don't warn about timeout if legacy backups are disabled. :-) [quote="cPanelMichael, post: 1694672">The following information notice is normal: It's simply letting you know that legacy backups are disabled. Yes, case 72765 addresses the warning email that is sent when legacy backups are disabled. Note the user appeared to be questioning the warning in the UI. Thank you. 0
