Split one domain into multiple accounts?

This is going to sound random, but I need to find a way to make it work. I'll reference this thread, though it was too old to reply to:

  Hello, If you want to created main account for your subdomain on the same server then you will get the downtime because first you will have to remove that from cPanel >> subdomain and then you can create it as main domain on your server.
