benefits of separate DNS server OR using cPanel DNS only?

I am an entry level system adminsitrator and had this question for a while now. What are the benefits of spending extra money to get one more server to be utilized as a DNS server, in opposed to simply setting up the DNS on the same box that is going to host shared accounts? Thanks.

  Hello :) The primary benefits are the additional redundancy and scalability. If the hosting server were to fail, then you could quickly update the DNS so the domain name points to another server. You could also transfer accounts between servers in the cluster without requesting the customer change name servers. You can find more information at: cPanel DNS-Only Thank you.
