So my domain is with godaddy and primary server/a record is with godaddy managed wordpress/vps. I created an account for the same domain on my hostgator reseller acct. I updated mx records to reflect cpanel. When testing email is failing. Am I missing any additional steps for this to work? I appreciate it. Thanks

Hello :) You must ensure that email accounts are created at the server the MX records are pointed to. If that's already setup, could you let us know what specific error message you receive? Thank you.

Technical details of temporary failure. The recipient server did not accept our request to connect.

Also I can send email from webmail but do not receive email other than locally when I send an email from cpanel webmail to my self. Google etc won't work. I can send email anywhere though.

I suggest consulting with your web hosting provider (GoDaddy) to have them check to see why email is not working correctly. Otherwise, if you have root access to the cPanel server, you can open a support ticket with us so we can take a closer look. Thank you.

The site it's self is hosted with godaddy but the email was created on cpanel via my hostgator reseller account. Meaning it would be through host gator email hosting wise right? Everything online said to just update the mx records. Using the exact domain name wouldn't be an issue right? Just avoiding having to use zoho so we have more control. I'll submit a ticket. Thanks

Updating the MX record is typically sufficient when directing email to another server. Yes, if you do not have root access to either server, then you must open a support ticket with GoDaddy so they can take a closer look. Thank you.
