Hello :) If you decide to use a remote server for DNS purposes, then you must ensure that you manually setup any A records, MX records, or any other DNS entries. Those entries are not setup automatically when you use a remote name servers, so it's often suggested to use name servers associated with your cPanel server. Thank you.

Michael - Thank you. Yes, you would need to set up the registrar's nameservers to point to the server. But this doesn't seem to be such a brutally difficult task. I keep hearing that you should use the server on which WHM/Cpanel is on. Is that because the process is automated as opposed to this other method, e.g. if you want to create a subdomain you can do so within Cpanel but you can't if you're using the registrar because it has to be manually set up in that instance? Thank you!

Yes, that is correct. You could still technically create a subdomain when using remote name servers, but it then requires you to manually setup that "A" record at the DNS host. Thank you.
