Best Way to Set Up Google Domains
Is there a best way to set up WHM/Cpanel with Google Domains? Generally I'm told that managing DNS on the server or locally at the host is the best way to set up WHM and Cpanel. Google Domains has their own nameservers and management and I'm unsure if there is a way to manage everything using WHM while using Google's nameservers to point all the services towards the server. Generally if we don't use the host's nameservers they say we should register our own custom nameservers at the registrar and then use those nameservers for the purpose of setting up whm/cpanel.

Hello :) If you decide to use a remote server for DNS purposes, then you must ensure that you manually setup any A records, MX records, or any other DNS entries. Those entries are not setup automatically when you use a remote name servers, so it's often suggested to use name servers associated with your cPanel server. Thank you. 0 -
Michael - Thank you. Yes, you would need to set up the registrar's nameservers to point to the server. But this doesn't seem to be such a brutally difficult task. I keep hearing that you should use the server on which WHM/Cpanel is on. Is that because the process is automated as opposed to this other method, e.g. if you want to create a subdomain you can do so within Cpanel but you can't if you're using the registrar because it has to be manually set up in that instance? Thank you! 0 -
Yes, that is correct. You could still technically create a subdomain when using remote name servers, but it then requires you to manually setup that "A" record at the DNS host. Thank you. 0
