Upgrading CentOS 6.5 To CentOS 7 With Cpanel Already Installed?

now i am not doing this any time soon but maybe next year. but i wish to clarify will WHM Cpanel have any effects When Doing a System Upgrade Like this? From 6.5 To 7? as i followed the instructions for cpanel you need to install it on a blank new server and once installed it cannot be removed. so will my current installation of Cpanel survive the upgrade process without any issues? and i asume easy apache will need to be run again to recompile all the PHP and apache modules again. or is this not needed? i just want to be sure that there are no issues upgrading CentOS with cpanel already installed. and no configurations or syslinks will get removed or deleted. this my first time so just making sure. it would suck for me to install CentOS 7 fresh again and spend hours re-install cpanel and reconfiguring everything then resorting my websites form backup...

    I am afraid you can not upgrade existing centos version 6.5 to 7 without reinstalling server. Only way to do this clean installation of centos 7 on your server and then cPanel.

    Hello :) Directly upgrading to a new major version of CentOS is not recommended due to the potential configuration errors that could arise. Instead, you should consider configuring a new server with the new OS and then migrating your accounts over to it using the cPanel transfer tools. Note that CentOS 7 is not yet supported.     This is an unfortunate design philosophy. Speaking as a long-time Mac user who has updated beta versions for years and years, I can say that the developers of CentOS ought to devise some sort of smooth in-place upgrade process so you don't have to go through this mess.     There is a supported upgrade path from CentOS-6 to CentOS-7 using the redhat-upgrade-tool which was introduced in the RHEL 7. It's still being tested so it's probably not fully supported. I don't know if this could be an option for cPanel servers though when it's ready for CentOS 7.
