moving servers, how do I move the license?
Hello,
Currently we have cPanel running on a server in datacenter A. We're moving everything to datacenter B. During the move to datacenter B we will be putting cPanel on new hardware and we'll have new IP addresses.
What's the process for this?
Do I
1. request a new temporary license
2. install cPanel
3. run the migration wizard
4. plug in the old license
When I've sent in trouble tickets for support they ask for the license and the server's IP address. Does this need to be updated somewhere on cPanel's side?
Thanks,
Rich.

Hello :) Yes, cPanel licenses are IP-based. I suggest installing the new OS/cPanel using a trial license. Once everything has been transferred over, you can update your license to the new IP address through the cPanel store or by submitting a ticket to our customer service department. Then, simply run the following command: /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt

Thanks. My concern was using a temp license would screw things up if I try to import a valid key later. 0 -

You are very welcome. To confirm, switching from a trial license to a regular license (existing or new) is perfectly acceptable. Thank you.0
