Set a default Email Routing parameter
Hi everyone,
I need help about MX entry configuration on WHM, regarding Email Routing.
1) Indeed, is there a way to assign the "Automatically Detect Configuration" for Email Routing for a specific package on WHM ? or by default for each user ?
If not, is there a command we can send to change it manually from the server for all users ?
I have seen that we can select it during account creation but our accounts are created externally so it doesn't help.
2) Moreover, if we use the "DNS Template" and set an external MX but on the cPanel user interface the email routing option is set to "Local Mail Exchanger", what will happen ? Is the option will be ignored by cPanel ?
I found old threads on the forum about that but no one has answers.
Thanks !
Regards,
Lionel

Hello :) 1. The following command is available: /scripts/checkalldomainsmxs
However, here is the warning when running this script: [QUOTE]The MX record will be determined from the zone file associated with this server, not from a remote query of the DNS record. If you are using and editing the zone file on a server not associated with this server through a DNS cluster configuration, then this utility will configure your email settings incorrectly.
You can use the "mxcheck" parameter when creating an account with our API: WHM API1 - createacct 2. It's important to choose the correct mail routing option so the domain name is properly placed in the /etc/localdomains or /etc/remotedomains file. Otherwise, conflicts will arise with email sent from PHP scripts hosted under the account on the cPanel server, or mail sent from other domain names on the same cPanel server. Thank you.0
