2 Hosts 2 different IP's and same hostname
We have 2 WHM hosts. 1 of them we have been using for years but because of more hosting we needed to add a second WHM host to host the websites. We want to use the same hostname but different sub. So this is the new situation:
1st server with cpanel has hostname: and has his own different IP
1st server is working with the SSL cert for a long time now. How do we setup the SSL on the second server? Because the domain hostname.com is an existing website hosted on the 1st server. We cannot setup SSL for the Host because you have to select a domainname, which is on the 1st server. Please help us out, how do we setup SSL for the second server.
I know it has to be a wildcard.

Hello :) You have to setup a separate SSL certificate for the hostname of the second server. Note that it's important not to confuse the term "hostname" with "domain name". You are using the same "domain name" but each server has it's own separate "hostname" in the scenario you described. Thank you. 0 -

Hi Michael, Thank for your quick answer. Well I did the following: The hostname is cp.hostname.com so I generated a CSR for this cp.hostname.com and have bought a simple cert for this. I try to install it, its successfull but it doesnt show the cert. It still says that its self signed. Please explain how we should install the cert for this. Does the domain name, have to be hosted on this server? No right? This is not required correct? Because this domainname is hosted on the first server i.e. cpanel.hostname.com Please explain how we should proceed..0 -
Both of them show this. Thanks for the reply 0 -
Could you verify that you have installed the service certificate via "WHM Home " Service Configuration " Manage Service SSL Certificates"? Thank you. 0 -
