Hello, Normal SSL certificate only use for single domain not for your other subdomain. You need to install wildcard SSL certificate on your domain after that you can add your subdomain on same SSL certificated. Thanks

Thanks for the reply but it didn't really address my question at all. I don't need an SSL certificate on the other domain. I am asking if there is a problem with having my server domain with normal SSL certificate installed set up with a pseudo user called "nobody" as the owner. Thanks.

Hello :) There is no problem with that configuration, however remember to use the term "hostname" instead of "server domain". Also, if you plan to install it for services, ensure you use: "WHM Home " Service Configuration " Manage Service SSL Certificates" Thank you.

Great thanks Michael. Sorry about the wrong terminology... still very much a learner. :-) Cheers,

The purpose for this kind of installation of a cert is what? I can only think of a kind of SSL proxy when you allow accounts to access their sites via hostname.domain.tld/~accountname/.. Any other purpose? Since no account is created with hostname.domain.tld no content beside the /cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi is shown. Or are there other scenarios?

Creating a shared SSL certificate is the primary purpose, but some administrators do create custom configurations where they browse their hostname as a website. It's not supported, but it does happen. Thank you.
