Emails and primary domain change

Hey guys, I'm wondering what happen with existing emails after changing the main domain name. Are they lost or still accessible through webmail? Thanks in advance

  Hello :) The "Modify an Account" option will not remove data. Using that option will change all instances of the original domain name to the new domain name in the server configuration files (cPanel, Apache, Email, etc). Note that email will remain stored in: /home/$username/mail/
  You should backup the account before making the change, and add the previous domain name as an addon domain name if you want to still use it for email-purposes. Thank you.
