Double DNS entries, suddenly a problem.

Some sites on one of our servers suddenly resolve no longer. When I look in Cpanel I see they have double DNS entries, every record is there twice. All records have in common that they are from march 2014. All sites have been working normally until today when this suddenly became an issue. Older and younger records don't have this problem. Any ideas on what could have caused the double entries in march? Any ideas to why it suddenly became a problem? Thanks!

  Hello :) Could you clarify where exactly you see duplicate entries? For instance, are there multiple zones in /var/named/ for your domain names? Or, are there multiple duplicate entries in each zone? Thank you.

  Hi Michael, The complete content in those zones was double.

  I've not heard of that happening before. Have you checked with other administrators to see if any particular actions were taken that could have caused that issue? Did you have a DNS cluster configured? Thank you.

  I have no idea what could have caused it, I hoped you would. The same with why this is suddenly since yesterday a problem (the zones existed since march). We have a DNS cluster but the zone files on the dns-only servers where not affected.
