question about Mount Backup Drive as Needed.

In Home "Backup "Backup Configuration, I can see an option called Mount Backup Drive as Needed. I have installed nfs and mounted a remote directory as my Default Backup Directory, should I choose the option "Mount Backup Drive as Needed" or not? What's the difference?
