The eternal question: cPanel & WHM certified training?

It's a bit of a rabbit hole on what such training should include, the cPanel certs I've seen seem to do a reasonable job of asking questions that you have to have some familiarity with the product to answer, despite being multiple choice. Being in the UK like you though I've got no experience of their in person training. Many people will argue (rightly I think) you absolutely need to also have an excellent grounding in general Linux systems administration for when things go wrong, especially if you hope to be able to do your own investigations in the event of a compromise or other security event, or do tricksy things like configure, compile and install your own grsecurity kernels etc. If you should later find you need some sort of cluster that will provide a platform for multiple VMs, you'll also need in depth networking and other skills. If you want to fully guard your environment yourselves you'll need to constantly test it, some of the in depth programs elearnsecurity offer might be worth looking at in that regard, they aren't UK based though. Ignore the above if it's 'just' WHM administration you're looking to do (i.e. tasks such as entering apache includes in the provided screens) and you've got someone to do everything 'below' that :)

Actually, it's true - I've gathered from the last few hours of research that actually WHM and to a lesser extent cPanel, are actually front-ends to Linux > Apache ... - or, WHM and cPanel are actually subsets of Linux > Apache, and then PHP/MySQL. WHM is the interface which organizes key concepts and functions into categories. You're right - 'Apache Training' is more accurate, for which there are many UK-based training providers, seemingly. Thanks

Hello :) Here is a snippet from our cPanel University web page: If you're wanting some hands-on learning, technical or sales training is also available on-site at your location or ours. Please email us at professor@cpanel.net. Feel free to send an email to that address to get some more information on whether this type of training is available to your company. Thank you.

Thanks Michael! I'll follow that up for sure. Today has been a great day for all things Linux training. Current host provided related info and pointed me to lpi.org. As of today in fact I've decided to use current unmanaged WHM / cPanel for development and learning, and use a managed VPS (WHM/cPanel) from a seperate provider for live site, and train-up in 2015.
