Nevermind . I had to purge the dead comet files. /usr/local/cpanel/bin/purge_dead_comet_files I don't know how it got So full . 0 -
I am happy to see you were able to address the issue. What version of cPanel is installed on your system? There were some changes in version 11.42 aimed to improve comet file usage (case 59137). Thank you. 0 -
Hi there, @cPanelMichael I am very new to cpanel, however have recently taken responsibility of a server using cpanel to manage it. I am trying to change the passwords via the WHM List Accounts feature and getting the message above. Is there anything I can try or look for? Stat returns the following: File: `/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/chpass' Size: 415 Blocks: 8 IO Block: 4096 regular file Device: 801h/2049dInode: 46563678 Links: 1 Access: (0755/-rwxr-xr-x) Uid: ( 0/ root) Gid: ( 0/ root) Access: 2015-08-03 15:33:58.000000000 +0100 Modify: 2013-05-07 00:41:14.000000000 +0100 Change: 2013-05-07 00:44:57.000000000 +0100 Thanks 0 -
Hello :) Check to see if you are at 100% disk space or inode usage on any of your partitions. EX: df -h df -i
Thank you.0 -

Hi, thanks so much for the quick response. I checked and nothing looks abnormal. df -h output shows highest usage at 82% df -i output shows nothing above 7% Is there something else I can try? Could it be a permissions issue? I am not using root. Thanks again0 -
Could you let us know the output to /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log when you notice this error message? Ensure you post the output in CODE tags, and only post the output that appears when the error message is generated in the interface. EX: tail -f /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log
Thank you.0 -
Hi @cPanelMichael Thanks again for your response. Sadly the issue is fixed now - I say sadly as soon after posting my question my production hard drive failed and I had to rebuild on new hardware. Pretty much the worst possible solution but the change password problem is no longer an issue! Thanks again! Panos 0 -
It's possible the hard drive failure contributed to the error message. In any event, I'm happy to see the issue is now resolved. Thank you for updating us with the outcome. 0 -
+1 with this error, /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log says: Undefined subroutine &AcctLock::unlock called at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Auth/Shadow.pm line 60. When trying to change any account password from WHM. Regards, 0 -

Hello, Have you verified the system is not at it's disk space or inode capacity? You can check with these commands:df -h df -i
Thank you.0 -
Yes, noticed that in previous comments of this thread, but server still has plenty of space: # df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 2.0T 901G 988G 48% / devtmpfs 16G 0 16G 0% /dev tmpfs 16G 0 16G 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 16G 1.6G 14G 11% /run tmpfs 16G 0 16G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup /dev/loop0 605M 600K 573M 1% /tmp tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/0 /dev/sdc1 917G 72M 871G 1% /disk3 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1019 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1020 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1049 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1018 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1005 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1011 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1004 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1035 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1041 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1038 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1039 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1027 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1051 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/206 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1044 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1052 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1053 tmpfs 3.1G 0 3.1G 0% /run/user/1006

To update, it looks like this issue stemmed from a read-only mount of the primary partition "/". The advice in the support ticket was to remount the partition with "read-write" permissions instead of "read-only" permissions. Thank you. 0
