Issue with receiving email
I admin a dedicated with cpanel installed. previously it worked fine before we did a clean install of 6.5 centos. Now when I setup a new email account it rejects e-mail. I'm trying to send one from xxx@gmail.com to xxx@domain.com.
Logs say temporarily rejected from RCPT: remote host address is the local host. Not sure what this means as it previously worked fine before. I've checked the MX records for the host, Do I need to include the hostname in the MX records ?

Hello, I think there is an issues with the MX record setup of your domain, Can you please provide me full mail logs so that I can check that and try to assist you in correct way. 0 -
run /scripts/checkalldomainsmxs --yes that should set your local email exchanger correctly 0 -
Try running /scripts/updateuserdomains /scripts/mailperm 0 -
Hello :) Please check to ensure the domain name exists in the /etc/localdomains file if email is handled locally. You can ensure it remains in that file by selecting "Local Mail Exchanger" under "Email Routing" via "WHM Home " DNS Functions " Edit DNS Zone" or "cPanel - MX Entry". Thank you. 0 -
Still having the same issue after re-checking everything and running those scripts. Logs are still saying the same RCPT errors. Here is the google rejection message: Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: kenrin@domain.com Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain domain.com by aspmx.l.google.com. [2607:f8b0:400d:c00::1b]. The error that the other server returned was: 550-5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist. Please try 550-5.1.1 double-checking the recipient's email address for typos or 550-5.1.1 unnecessary spaces. I also think it is due to MX records. The odd thing is it draws the records from our provider into cpanel and we did not change anything on that end we just did a format and reinstall. Can you run a check on domain.com via mxtoolbox and see if you can find anything?0 -
The domain name in question uses Google's MX records. Thus, email is not handled on the cPanel server. You will need to update the MX records to point to the cPanel server if you want email handled there. Thank you. 0 -
Well I feel stupid. the records were updated in cpanel but inside our providers dns records (which pulls into cpanel) were wrong. It should be fine in a few hours. Thanks for the help!, now if I could only find a decent fix for wordpress to stop getting DDoS'd 0 -
I am happy to see the issue is now resolved. Thank you for updating us with the outcome. 0
