When formulating the Reverse DNS, 2 ip have same values for the 3 front segements
Hi all.
When formulating the Reverse DNS domains, both my 2 ips have the same values for the 3 front segments, except they differ at the last segment, i.e. 23, and 24, whereas by the book they would be omitted. Naturally, there are 2 different separate domains for 2 ips.
Will the system accept this?
Thanks!

Hello :) Yes that is acceptable because you will specify the last octet of the IP address within the zone file. You can find documentation on this at: Setup rDNS for Bind Thank you. 0 -
Quite to the contrary, the system responds 'the zone owned by another user'. I have 2 ip addresses covering 2 different domains, the front 3 segments of the values are the same whilst last segment is 23, and 24 . When I try to create the Reverse DNS zone, it accepts for the first domain. But when I create for the 2nd, the system responds with the above error message. Thanks for helping me out! JJ 0 -
The system recognizes only the first Reverse DNS zone because of the same formation of values with the front 3 segments, even though the 2 have different ip. How could I overcome this? Thanks! JJ 0 -
