DNSONLY Configuration
Hello everyone,
I am trying to set up two dedicated servers and two VPS.
But I am some difficulties.
How do I do this setting:
ns1.domain.com (VPS 1) (Master)
ns2.domain.com (VPS 2) (Slave)
- server01.domain.com (Dedicated 1)
- server02.domain.com (Dedicated 2)
Another question is how to configure the Server configuration>Basic cPanel & WHM Setup
How to get the Nameservers part on each server?

I could understand the logic for the cluster configuration but I am having trouble with my domain registrar. When having to enter the DNS and IPs, my registrar returns a message: Query refused. I performed the following steps: After configuring the cluster, I added in the server hosting the primary domain and then I create two zones dns for this domain: ns1 - pointing VPS1 ns2 - pointing VPS2 I made the correct settings? What could be happening? Thank you 0 -
Hello :) Are you installing cPanel DNS-Only on any of these servers or are these all cPanel servers hosting their own websites? The following document will explain how to best configure your cluster: Guide to DNS Cluster Configurations Who is your domain registrar? Thank you. 0 -
Hello Michael, Firstly, thanks for your answer. My two dedicated servers are with cPanel installed. The two VPS are installed with DNS Only. If I configure the ns1 and ns2 on dedicated server without cPanel DNS-Only, I can configure in my registrar. But when I set the ns1 IP for my VPS with DNS-Only, my registrar not accept. Is possible my VPS be the Master DNS? My registrar is registro.br (Brazil) 0 -
I suggest checking with your domain registrar to verify what the requirements for setting up a name server are. It's possible the requirements for the .br tld are different than a normal .com tld. Thank you. 0 -
Michael, I checked my registrar and is ok. But I have a question now: In my registrar should I enter the IP of the VPS (with DNS-Only) or the IP of server where the main domain is hosted? 0 -
You should use the IP address of the DNS-Only server because that's the server that's going to handle the DNS. Thank you. 0 -
I can not understand why my DNS server does not respond by the VPS. I've done all possible settings, and when I ping my domain, IP appears dedicated server and not the VPS (which is configured as a dns server) 0 -
It's supposed to resolve to the IP address of the hosting server if that's where the account is configured. The IP addresses associated with the name servers won't match up to the IP address assigned to the account. Have you reviewed a website such as IntoDNS to make sure the DNS is configured correctly? Thank you. 0
