Internal server error after apache update

I tried to update apache today. But after the update finished all the sites are showing 500 internal server error. Please help.

  Have you updated the apache version on server ? Also, check /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log log file for exact error message.

  Problem fixed when I blanked the .htaccess file and removed suphp in apache update.
