Easy Question regarding Cpanel setup - can't find answer browsing web
When setting up cpanel, within the basic config section of setup, an ip address is required and it is not clear if this is supposed to be the public ip address of the server or the private ip address. The confusion is because the example ip address a 10.x.x.x ip address, which would suggest a private ip is needed, but it is simply not clear.
Can someone please let me know if public or private is required?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Cowboy59, The answer to this one is in the documentation -> https://documentation.cpanel.net/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=360665#BasiccPanel&WHMSetup-BasicConfig ===== The IP address (only one address) that will be used for setting up shared IP virtual hosts ===== So this means that the IP Address here will need to be public as it will be used as the default shared IP for your server (Default IP for your websites) Have a great day! And enjoy your new cPanel server! 0 -
Thank you for the help. Most appreciated. 0 -
Hello :) Yes, you should use a public IP address unless you are specifically setting up a NAT environment. Thank you. 0
