How to access VPS WHM behind firewall
Hello,
I have googled/studied for the last 4 months before asking...
My understanding, correct me if i am wrong:
- First of all, WHM is for the boss of VPS to manage overall server, right ? so WHM usually stick with an IP, not a domain. Domains belong to websites living on that server..
=> I don't know how a sub domain proxy can connect to VPS WHM.
Assuming that I have 111.222.333.444 for WHM
111.222.333.555 for mysite1.com
111.222.333.666 for mysite2.net
whm.mysite1.com to access WHM of the whole VPS seems weird to me..
- Most of firewalls only allow 80/8080/443. In my current configuration, port 80/443 is for httpd serving websites. port 8080 is for cpanel (also serving sites). Looks like no option available here..
Please help

Hello :) When you enable proxy subdomains, VirtualHost entries are added to httpd.conf to automatically redirect unconfigured cpanel, webmail, webdisk and whm subdomains to the correct port (requires mod_rewrite and mod_proxy). Could you elaborate on how this is not working on your system? For instance, what is not working as intended? Thank you. 0 -
Michael, I mean I heard about the technic but I couldn't get it. It is confusing to me: - My VPS WHM has no domain name, ofcourse, I just need an IP to run WHM - I have 2 domains mysite1.com and mysite2.net So my understanding is : 1 WHM has n cpanel/website/domain But the document here is saying : 0 -
]Does it mean whm.mysite1.com and whm.mysite2.net both point to my VPS WHM?
Yes, VirtualHost entries for proxy subdomains should work for all domain names associated with new accounts that you add to your system. Thank you.0
