How to install FFPMEG, easily, such that it gets automatically updated in the upcp daily process?
I have a very up to date server running WHM/cPanel on Centos with the latest release software,patches/kernel etc etc.
Is there a nice easy way to install FFMPEG?
And once done will it be included in the automatic updates performed by upcp each morning? Or will I want to keep it updated manually?
Thank you,
BH

Re: How to install FFPMEG, easily, such that it gets automatically updated in the upcp daily process Hello :) Please note that assistance with FFMPEG software application installations (including software that utilizes this software) and technical support for this piece of software are not available from cPanel. While FFMPEG software is distributed subject to GPL licenses, the use and installation of the software may also require patent licenses from third parties. Because of the legal uncertainty relating to the FFMPEG software application, we are not able to assist in the installation or troubleshooting of FFMPEG. This is not legal advice or a legal opinion. We are simply explaining that our participation in the installation/troubleshooting of this software is not available. Please see the following location for any legal discussion: FFmpeg License and Legal Considerations You may want to try searching for installation assistance on forums where FFMPEG discussions occur. Or, you can search this forum for "ffmpeg" to see some threads that show how other users have installed it. However, cPanel staff members can not assist you with FFMPEG (including software that utilizes this software). Thank you. 0 -
Re: How to install FFPMEG, easily, such that it gets automatically updated in the upcp daily process Hi Michael - aware of all of that but was hoping for a very up-to-date response from someone. The most recent posts I can find with much detail on the subject are from 2013 and of course things have moved on somewhat since then. 0 -
Re: How to install FFPMEG, easily, such that it gets automatically updated in the upcp daily process Is there any specific version FFMPEG you want or you are ok with any version of FFMPEG. If there is no specific requirement then you can go with SVN version of ffmpeg and it is the best and easier way to install ffmpeg on cpanel server. 0 -

No, any recent stable version is fine. I'm seriously considering installing WHMxTRA for a month to evaluate WHMxTRA and as a bonus, also get ffmpeg installed. $10 for a month. Any negatives to doing it that way? Thank you!0
